🇫🇮 Sanasto — Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Sanasto is a Finnish vocabulary learning tool consisting of a web app and a Chrome extension. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
What we collect
- Username and password — when you create an account. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
- Your word list — the Finnish words and English meanings you save.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your browsing history.
- We do not track which pages you visit or which words you look up without saving.
- We do not collect any personally identifiable information beyond your chosen username.
- We do not sell or share your data with third parties.
How your data is used
Your word list is stored in a database solely to sync it across your devices. It is only accessible when you are logged in with your account.
Third-party services
- Wiktionary API — used to fetch word definitions. No personal data is sent.
- Groq API — used to generate AI explanations of words. Only the looked-up word is sent, no personal data.
- Neon (PostgreSQL) — used to store user accounts and word lists securely.
Data deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.
